The Commons Cafe & Books, nestled in the charming enclave of Langley, WA, is a delightful spot that marries delicious food with a cozy reading atmosphere. Reviewers consistently praise the welcoming patio where guests can savor lunch while basking in the sun. One standout dish is the B.L.A.T.T., a bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, and turkey sandwich that has enchanted many, much like their flavorful quiches and breakfast burritos.
Beyond the food, the cafe offers a tranquil environment perfect for readers and those seeking a moment of respite. Customers have noted the friendly service and the exceptional coffee, especially the acclaimed cold brew available during summer. While some have mentioned that food preparation may take a bit longer during busy times, the extensive selection of books makes it easy to unwind while you wait.
One of the cafe's unique features is its commitment to youth empowerment, functioning as a non-profit that provides young individuals with their first work experiences. This mission adds an extra layer of warmth to the already inviting ambiance. Overall, The Commons Cafe & Books is a hidden gem worth visiting for anyone in the area, combining good food, a rich selection of literature, and a sense of community.

Today, we had lunch on the patio. What a welcoming spot. The B.L.A.T.T. and quiche of the day were delicious. Sitting here on a beautiful sunny day, enjoying a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with added turkey - what could be better! We would definitely return when in the area.

The coffee was great! The burrito was better than I expected, I would order it again!!! The cold brew here is the best on Whidbey Island (only made in summer). When they get busy, food takes a little longer, expect to wait. They have plenty of books to occupy your time with.

This is a wonderful gem in Langley. Lots of books to borrow. Generally quiet enough to read or work. It's also a non-profit coffee shop dedicatedto giving youth their first work experience and help them preparefor the future. How cool is that?

Loved the experience here. Must visit place. The person serving was super jovial and appropriately chatty.. It was a partly sunny day. We had a vegan muffin which was the best ever. We don’t eat eggs and hence most times it’s hard to get good yummy muffins. But this one was perfect. Perfectly sweet- not tooo much sweet like every time. Perfect texture- not dry. We loved the ambience. They had seating outside as well as inside. Loved spending time with family here.

My first time at The Commons, and it didn’t disappoint! I had the turkey pesto sandwich with a salad and an oat milk chai. The sandwich was amazing—totally unexpected to get a full piece of chicken! The service was quirky and friendly, which I really appreciate. Their book section was fantastic, featuring tons of local authors, and I especially enjoyed browsing the poetry section while waiting for my food. It’s a quaint, delicious little spot, with a cozy vibe—several people seemed posted up working on laptops. I’ll definitely be back for both the food and as a potential work spot!
